Vultures
The kid I teach the mouth organ's
An evil little swine
And his Father's made it his business
To interfere with mine
And all I get for Christmas
Is a letter from the bank
Saying from now on young Smithy Lad
You're dealing strictly in cash
Pressure from the outside
Pressure from the in
The vultures keep circling
For the debit on the credit
My card's cut before my eyes
And the shopgirl with the scissors
Could only shrug and sympathise
And the interest on the interest
On the shortfall starts to rise
And the cashflow isn't flowing
Unlike the tears within my eyes
Pressure from the outside
Pressure from the in
The vultures keep circling
If I had a penny for all the times
I found money to buy things I couldn't afford
I'd still only spend it at the bar
Ordering drinks with bon accord for friends I hardly know
I seem to think thats the way to make your money grow
Such is the price that life demands
I don't know what it is about money
But it always slips through my hands
You enter this world penniless
And for all the joy it brings
If you do not die indebted
Then you haven't gained a thing
But cynicism's boring
And the bars are burning bright
The deeper I tumble into debt
The brighter are the lights
Pressure from the outside
Pressure from the in
The vultures keep circling
