From: "3am This Morning"

My Best Friend

Last night by your window as I was walking past
I saw upon the curtains the shadow that you cast
And another shadow there ran his fingers through your hair

You see, I was always taught to treat folk kindly
To treat all people as I'd treat myself
But I had come to love you so completely
Imagine how I felt when I saw your shadow blend
With the shadow of my Best Friend

I stood for a moment in the chilly evening air
And my mind reeled in torment at what went on in there
The two people I could trust
The one I'd loved so much

You see, I was always taught to treat folk kindly
To treat all people as I'd treat myself
But I had come to love you so completely
I couldn't bring myself to touch a hair upon your head
So I vowed to take my Best Friend

I waited round the corner, I could hardly feel my breath
Till you kissed him on the doorstep. He kissed you back and left
Then the cordon of my belt
As it looped around his neck

You see, I was always taught to treat folk kindly
To treat all people as I'd treat myself
But I had come to love you so completely
Imagine how I felt when I saw your shadow blend
With the shadow of my Best Friend
