From: "The Devil Sips his Tea"
The Devil Sips his Tea
In this fine restaurant, the devil sips his tea
With cream
The devil sits two seats away from me
Puffed up with his urbane repartee
Flattering with idle pleasantries
Laughing just as nicely as you please
This grim disease
This jealousy
Is eating me
The devil sitting tall among the magic of the city
The devil breaking bread among his minions aplenty
Sunbeams like a choir of angels herald through the windows
The sunlight on his fingertips gives fire to his fingers
The devil signing contracts with the easiness of lovers
With all good life around and there's the devil sitting proud despite
what's:
Good for you
Good for me
I cannot stop from hating,
I'm haunted by what cannot be
But for him
But for me
I cannot stop from crying,
It's permanent unchanging history
In this slick restaurant, the devil pays his way
In spades
The devil takes his purse out of his case
Sprinkles coins upon the silver plate
A little something for the girl who waits
The devil smiles the smile I've come to hate
And no one hates
Like I can hate
My poor heart breaks
The devil drains his cup and exits calmly to the
highway
The devil wastes the day until he pulls up in your driveway
The devil sheds his coat within a universe expanding
You and he will sit and take your tea on the Veranda
He'll kiss you in the way I did and lead you to the bedroom
And there he lays you bare
And that's another nightmare
Creeping up my stair
